Spoiler Free TV Review: House of Cards Season 2, Episode 1, 2, and 3: Welcome Back

House Of Cards Season 2

_House of Cards_ is one of the best shows on television, and the first three episodes of season two promises that will continue.

I’m going to write a bit more but that’s all you really need to know.

The second season premiere comes back in a big way. It picks up at the moment that season 1 left off with Frank and Claire returning from their run. Frank days away from being confirmed as Vice President with Zoe, Janine, and Lucas looking into the death of Peter Russo, while Claire is till dealing with disgruntled former employee Gillian.

These first three episodes are all great however the premiere episode fantastic. Frank’s breaking of the fourth wall is used to fantastic effect throughout the series but perhaps to its greatest in this episode. Fitting as well because that episode shows to what lengths Frank, and also Claire, are willing to go to to achieve their ends.

Kevin Spacey and Robin Wright are both back at top form as well, proving again that Wright completely deserved her Golden Globe and that Spacey didn’t deserve to be overlooked at every turn.

If I have a worry so far it’s that while Frank Underwood is having an interesting time as a more active Vice President than what everyone in Washington is used to, it doesn’t quite seem like he has that many real opposition just yet.

Then again we’re only three episodes into thirteen so hopefully all this throwing his weight around will create some enemies for the latter part of the season.

Also, Jimmi Simpson shows up in episode three in a supporting role which pretty much can’t be a bad thing.

All in all the first three episodes are fantastic, great, and great. That’s about all I can say without spoilers, so that’s where I’ll leave it. Look for more posts through the day as I continue watching but be warned that I’m going to have to get into spoilers in subsequent posts.
