Awesome: Horatio Nelson Film In Development

Nelsom

I’m a huge film nerd but my education was in History, and the era I have a particular interest in is British Naval History at the time of the Napoleonic Wars. Basically, put a good actor at the helm of a frigate and I am good to go.

So when I saw that there is a Horatio Nelson biopic in development, I got a little excited.

[Variety](http://variety.com/2013/film/news/warner-bros-lord-nelson-love-and-glory-1200608308/):

> Warner Bros. has set up the biopic “Love and Glory,” about British Naval officer Lord Horatio Nelson.

> Peter Woodward is on board to pen the script.

> Nelson made a name for himself while fighting Napoleon’s forces on the Mediterranean — and for engaging in a scandalous love affair with Lady Emma Hamilton.

> Gianni Nunnari is producing, with newly promoted creative exec Cate Adams overseeing for the studio.

Exciting stuff for a history nerd like me. Hopefully the movie is good (I only know Woodward as an actor, not a writer) and there is a long way to go until we actually see something. The other thing is that these kinds of films often don’t do amazingly. _Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World_ for example is a great movie that ended up under-performing at the box office.

Only time will tell, but for right now count me as excited.
